Email:

I am an Honorary Teaching Fellow in Politics and Quantitative Methods. I joined PAIS in 2022, having previously taught at City, University of London, University College London (UCL) and University of Kent, where I recently completed my PhD. My thesis focuses on the interaction of formal and informal institutions in federal relations in Russia. I am also affiliated to the Centre for Federal Studies (CFS) at the University of Kent.

Research

My research interests include informal institutions, elite networks, subnational authoritarianism, federalism, decentralization and party system with the specific focus on Russia, Ukraine and Central Asia. Currently, I am particularly interested in the impact of formal and informal incentives provided by the process of decentralization in Ukraine on the perception of the central government by regional business, political elites and society, including their response to the Russian invasion.

I am currently working on a book provisionally titled Federal Bargaining in Russia and the Impact of Informal Institutions, based on my PhD thesis.
