In March 2013 the Royal Court Theatre put on a new play "The Low Road" by Bruce Norris. The play was set in revolutionary America and I spent an afternoon with the cast during rehearsals talking to them about the environment of colonial America and specifically about slavery which was a central part of the play.

I talked on marronage in the United States in Jamaica in June 2010. The conference was held in an existing maroon community, Charlestown, and many members of the maroon community came to listen to the papers. The event was part of a project to disseminate current academic research on marronage to living maroons. This talk emerged from research undertaken for my book, Maroon Communities in South Carolina: A Documentary Record (Columbia, SC: University of South Carolina Press, 2009)

The event included giving talks on black Savannah history to audiences of 300 local people in the Savannah Theater and a trip to talk to local high school children. The event was organised by the Telfair Museum in Savannah as part of a project to reconnect residents of Savannah with their history.
