      <title>Thursday 9th June - Education Studies Community Day</title>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;On Thursday 9th June the Education Studies Department are hosting a community get-together 11-2pm in our outdoor garden area behind the Social Sciences building. It will be a chance to meet up with students from your course and from other courses. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own lunch. There will be some activities to join in with or chances to chat and catch up. All our community are welcome and encouraged to come (students and staff). We also have an indoor room booked if the weather is not kind to us.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Come along and join us on Thursday 9th June from 11am. I will send out further reminders as we get nearer to the event.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

      <title>The call for abstracts for the 9th annual Warwick Education Studies Postgraduate Research Conference is now open</title>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;The 9th Education Studies PGR Conference offers a dynamic environment for postgraduate research (PGR) students to showcase and discuss their research.  This year's conference keynote programme theme is &amp;quot;Education, Conflict and Displacement&amp;quot;. For postgraduates who aim to present at the conference, &lt;a href="https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/soc/ces/news/research/2022conference/abstractsubmissionform/"&gt;abstracts should be submitted&lt;/a&gt; by Monday 21 March 2022.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This year's conference will take place online over 22-23 April 2022. Attendance at the conference is open to all Postgraduate students and the academic community, and is free.       <description>&lt;p&gt;We are pleased to note the new co-authored publication from Dr Emily Henderson and Ahmad Akkad, one of our PhD students, published in the &lt;em&gt;Teaching in Higher Education Journal. &lt;/em&gt;The article, entitled &lt;em&gt;'&lt;/em&gt;&lt;em&gt;Exploring the role of HE teachers as change agents in the reconstruction of post-conflict Syria&lt;/em&gt;&lt;em&gt;'&lt;/em&gt;, is based on Ahmad's MA Global Education and International Development dissertation work, and can be &lt;a href="https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/13562517.2021.1965571" target="_blank" rel="noopener"&gt;viewed online&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;

      <title>Masters student starts ambulance volunteer work to support the NHS</title>

&lt;p&gt;She says &amp;quot;&#8220;As you may be aware, St John Ambulance is currently working very closely with the NHS to provide any support available at this critical moment with the pandemic. As a St John volunteer, we are offered the option to volunteer for the SJA response to COVID-19, and I have signed up to support the NHS. I will do my best to stay safe in the frontline, and hope everyone does their bit to stay safe as well!&amp;quot;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Well done Jinjue. It is really heartwarming to hear how our community is helping the NHS during this time.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
