Statute 8 - The Pro-Vice-Chancellors

Following approval by the Privy Council, Statute 8 has been updated as per Senate paper S.53/07-08 and Council (approved for second time) C.13/08-09.

Change of Faculty Name - Social Sciences

As approved by the Senate and the Council, the Faculty of Social Studies has changed its name to the Faculty of Social Sciences with effect from 1 October 2009.

The University Calendar has been updated to reflect this amendment and the date from which the new name will apply.

Revisions to Regulations 4 and 8.10

At its meeting held on 8 July 2009, the Council approved the following revisions to University Regulations:

Regulation 8.10 Governing the Degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) and for the Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMedSci)

Regulation 4 (6) Promotion from Associate Professor to Associate Professor (Reader)

Regulation 15 Governing Higher Doctorates

Regulation 15 Governing Higher Doctorates has been updated to reflect the current fee approved by the Steering Committtee (SC.278/08-09).

Regulation 9.5 Constitution and Appointment of Boards of Examiners for the degrees of MBChB

At its meeting held on 18 March 2009, the Council approved revisions to Regulation 9.5 to include the constitution of the MBChB Boards of Examiners previously contained in 8.10 as approved by the Council in July 2008. The references in 8.10 have been removed.

Ordinance 13 Degrees and Diplomas

At its meeting held on 18 March 2009, the Council approved formally amendments to Ordinance 13 to allow the University to award the following qualifications:

Graduate Diploma
Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE)
Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE)

Membership of Faculty of Science Advisory Board

Additional external members have been appointed to the Faculty of Science Advisory Board by invitation of the Vice-Chancellor.

Revisions to the Calendar - Senate Meeting 11 March 2009

Ordinance 3 Appointment of Pro-Vice-Chancellors

Ordinance 3 has been revised following approval of Council on 2 October 2008 to provide for the new procedure for appointment and terms of office for Pro-Vice-Chancellors. (Council Paper C.13/08-09)
