The University has a strong commitment to providing residential accommodation for a significant proportion of its students. Approximately 2,000 new units are proposed in the new Development Plan on campus. There is a potential shortfall between the estimated capacity of the estate and the University’s total development brief. In order to limit further development on the Green Belt, the University will develop a strategy for providing further additional student residences near the campus. This strategy may include the acquisition of new land close to the campus or provision of residences in neighbouring communities.
