Coventry Live Event

Coventry Live Event

On Friday 3rd February 2023, researchers from Warwick and Coventry universities came together with regional partners to celebrate what we achieved together through Coventry UK City of Culture. The level of participation and the success of the day underlined further the strong foundations on which these partnerships will continue to flourish.

To an audience of more than 70 people, we heard from spoken word artists, theatre directors and producers, community organisations, city council members, researchers and research funders. We spoke, discussed, screened our films, sang, performed and told Coventry stories.

"From the Roma allotment community, to the physical and emotional burdens carried by NHS workers in Lockdown; from artist-researcher collaborations exploring topics as varied as solitude, caring within BAME communities and the suffragettes of Coventry, to the place-based pride of Coventry Made Me; and from the power of arts-led collaborations in policing, to improvements in wellbeing through civic participation.

In all of this we celebrated the vital role of research within our region; the value of arts and culture in connecting our communities; and the part played by Coventry UK City of Culture in providing a powerful catalyst for sustained place-based research."
