University of Warwick and testing mega lab in Leamington Spa

The University of Warwick is geographically very close to the proposed location of a testing mega lab in Leamington Spa that was announced today (16 November). The University has been asked if we can help with this initiative and we have offered our full support. We believe that we can provide significant assistance that will be crucial to getting the mega lab up and running quickly and effectively.


THE World University table for 2021 ranks Warwick in world’s top 100 and UK’s top 10

The University of Warwick has retained its top 100 position of 77th overall in the World and 9th in the UK in the THE (Times Higher Education) 2021 World University Rankings published at midday on Wednesday 2nd September 2020.

In the previous two years Warwick rose a total of 14 places in the THE global rankings.

Autonomous pods SWARM together like bees in world first demonstration

Autonomous pods born in Coventry are now able to swarm together in a world first, thanks to research by WMG at the University of Warwick in partnership with Aurrigo and Milton Keynes council.

With the concept of driverless pods now more realistic than futuristic, the vehicles are one step closer to being put to use, as they can now help each other to drive and navigate through pedestrian areas around people.


Seventy years of crop research at Warwick’s Wellesbourne campus celebrated at industry event

Industry specialists, researchers and staff – past and present – gathered at Warwick’s Wellesbourne campus on 18 December to mark 70 years of crop research on the site.

The meeting heard from a range of speakers who relayed past successes and described work on future developments. Invited keynote speaker and expert in food policy, Professor Tim Lang, spoke about the importance of vegetables in the UK and Sue Kennedy from Elsoms Seeds gave a commercial perspective on vegetable genetics and breeding – past, present and future.


Warwick to broadcast Royal Opera House performances live on Big Screen

World-class opera and ballet performances will be broadcast live and free of charge for the University community and members of the public at the University of Warwick this summer on the Big Screen at The Piazza on Thursday 9 June (Nabucco) and Thursday 14 July (Il Trovatore).

Microsoft’s Xbox Kinect breathes new life into respiratory assessment

Xbox Kinects could be used in the future to assess the health of patients with conditions such as cystic fibrosis. Researchers at the Institute of Digital Healthcare, WMG, University of Warwick and the Institute of Inflammation and Ageing, University of Birmingham and Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT) have developed a method of using the devices.

Times Higher Education rank Warwick as one the world’s top 50 most International Universities

University of Warwick has been ranked as one of the world’s top 50 most International Universities in the Times Higher Education list of the most international universities. Warwick was ranked 45th in the world in the table which examines the proportion of international staff, proportion of international students and proportion of research papers published with at least one co-author from another country.

WMG part of new £23 million Internet of Things Research Hub announced today

The Medical Research Council has announced it will be funding 15 PhDs at the University of Warwick over the next three years. The prestigious awards are granted by the Medical Research Council (MRC) following a highly competitive application process. Warwick signs cancer research partnership with China’s Sun Yat-sen University

The University of Warwick and Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create a research partnership in cancer diagnosis and specialist cancer care.
