Action 21 is a local volunteer-based charity that aims to reduce the environmental impact of the Leamington and Warwick communities and raise awareness of the benefits of sustainable living.
From bike mechanics to book sorters, and photographers to PAT testers – there’s a lot to choose from! Click here to find out more. Some roles are occupied at present, but they actively welcome applications and will make contact when the role becomes available.
Leamington and Warwick.
Travel expenses are paid by the organisation.
How to get involved
Please contact Action 21 email@example.com stating the volunteering roles in which you are interested. The Volunteer Officer will then contact you to arrange an informal meeting, and she will also send you a registration form to complete. If you need help to complete the form, this will be provided.
You can read more about Action 21 on their website: http://www.action21.co.uk/
This is an external project Warwick Volunteers does not have any involvement with the management of these activities.
The norm is to complete a minimum of one shift a week (3-3.5 hours), although they can be flexible about this if necessary. There are a few roles that require only ad-hoc assistance, and bike mechanics usually volunteer one full day. Please check individual volunteering role descriptions as they detail how much time is required.
Action 21 believe volunteers should not be made out of pocket by helping out so they will contribute to your travel expenses if you use public transport to get to there. If you volunteer for a full day, you may be eligible for a free lunch.
Many of the volunteering roles require nothing more than enthusiasm and reliability. Some roles require specific skills or experience, and these will be stated within the volunteering role descriptions.
You’ll receive ‘on the job’ mentoring and support from other volunteers and your supervisors. If your volunteering involves handling heavy items, you’ll watch their manual handling training DVD. The Portable Appliance Testing role requires the most training, plus the opportunity to acquire formal certification.
This is an external opportunity
Warwick Volunteers cannot be held responsible for external volunteering opportunities advertised, but we do make every effort to ensure that all the information we publish is accurate. We advise volunteers to use their own judgement when selecting potential opportunities, and to check all details concerning prospective volunteering activity with the organisation involved. Please make sure that you have received all necessary training and information regarding your own health and safety before commencing volunteering.
