We are a social enterprise which teaches chess to children aged six to twelve years of age. We aim to demonstrate how chess can provide children with skills that will empower them in and outside the classroom.
Volunteer coaches are recruited on a rolling basis to teach chess and supervise the club's members during sessions.

How to get involved
Interested volunteers should email Paul Lam (firstname.lastname@example.org) with a copy of their CV attached and a supporting statement explaining their motivations for applying and details of their previous experience of playing chess, coaching and working with children. Successful applicants will be invited to a training session. Selection for the role will depend on satisfactory completion of this and obtaining DBS clearance.
This project is not managed by Warwick Volunteers.
Visit their website for more information about the club: https://coventrychessacademy.wordpress.com/
Sessions are held every Saturday from 9:30am to 12:30pm. The period of commitment is flexible.
Volunteers must be able to play chess up to post-beginners level (this will be assessed as part of training). Prior experience of playing chess competitively, coaching or working with children is not essential, as full training will be provided, but will be advantageous.
A DBS check will be required.
