Volunteering Opportunities

Volunteer coaches are recruited on a rolling basis to teach chess and supervise the club's members during sessions.

Location and Travel

Cheylesmore Community Centre,
Poitiers Road,
Coventry CV3 5JX

Travel expenses are not paid by the organisation.

How to get involved

Interested volunteers should email Paul Lam (gmman@hotmail.co.uk) with a copy of their CV attached and a supporting statement explaining their motivations for applying and details of their previous experience of playing chess, coaching and working with children. Successful applicants will be invited to a training session. Selection for the role will depend on satisfactory completion of this and obtaining DBS clearance.

This project is not managed by Warwick Volunteers.

Visit their website for more information about the club: https://coventrychessacademy.wordpress.com/

Time Commitment

Sessions are held every Saturday from 9:30am to 12:30pm. The period of commitment is flexible.

Requirements

Volunteers must be able to play chess up to post-beginners level (this will be assessed as part of training). Prior experience of playing chess competitively, coaching or working with children is not essential, as full training will be provided, but will be advantageous.

A DBS check will be required.

This is an external opportunity
