Midland Mencap provide a range of choice based care and support services for people with learning disabilities and their family carers. Every Midland Mencap volunteer receives a volunteer induction from a member of the Volunteering team, along with a training workshop covering health and safety, safeguarding, equality and diversity, and the role of the volunteer

Mencap look for volunteers who have the following skills and characteristics:

• Approachability and friendliness
• Patience
• The ability to encourage and support other people
• Honesty and integrity
• A willingness to learn
• The ability to get on well as part of a team

How to get involved

Interested volunteers will be asked to complete an application form and attend an informal interview. Volunteers will also need to apply for a DBS check
