Volunteering Opportunities

Volunteers in small groups go into local schools and play games involving numbers with children aged 4-11 years old. Volunteers will help encourage students to have fun learning and develop their confidence and skills in maths.


Problem solving; able to motivate young people to want to learn; creativity; listening and communication and numeracy.

Volunteers working with children on a regular basis need to have:

An Enhanced background check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), formerly called Criminal Records Bureau.If you have lived outside of the UK for more than 6 months in the past 5 years you need to obtain a criminal record check from the country you lived in. This is commonly referred to as a ‘Certificate of Good Conduct’.

We will help you complete all the necessary checks.

Time commitment

Term 1
Attend a Fun with Numbers training session, complete Safeguarding Children training and complete a DBS check.

Term 2
The sessions are only one hour per week for 10 weeks. Little preparation is needed. Even with the journey, this will normally mean no more than two hours of your time each week.
