Please note: Staff and student data can be 'Personal Data' in their raw form and this needs to be protected from unauthorised exposure. As such, we do not publish figures where numbers are small. The graphs below show 0% where the staff/student population is less than 0.1%, but this does not necessarily mean there are no staff/students in that group.

Staff

Disability

In 2023/24, 6% of staff are disabled.

Declarations: 87.3% (12.7% of staff said 'Prefer not to say'/didn't answer the question).

In 2021/22, the sector average was 6.8% disabled staff.


Race and Ethnicity

In 2023/24, 15.8% of staff are Black, Asian, or minority ethnic.

  • Asian - 14%.
  • Black - 2.4%.
  • Mixed - 2.2%.
  • Other - 1.6%.

Declarations: 93.8% (6.2% of staff said 'Prefer not to say'/didn't answer the question).

In 2021/22, the sector average was 17.5% Black, Asian, and minority ethnic staff (9.6% Asian, 3.2% Black, 2.7% Mixed, and 2% Other).


Religion and Belief

In 2023/24, 30.3% of staff declared a religion or belief:

  • Buddhist - 0.8%.
  • Christian - 20.9%.
  • Hindu - 2.2%.
  • Jewish - 0.2%.
  • Muslim - 3.1%.
  • Sikh - 1.4%.
  • Spiritual - 0.7%.
  • Any other religion or belief - 1%.

31% of staff declared no religion.

In 2021/22, the sector average was 25.1% staff declaring a religion (0.5% Buddhist, 18.1% Christian, 1.2% Hindu, 0.4% Jewish, 2.2% Muslim, 0.3% Sikh, 0.7% Spiritual, and 1.7% any other religion) and 26.5% declaring no religion.


Sex identifier

In 2023/24, more than half of staff are female (52.4% female, 47.5% male).

In 2021/22, the sector average was 54.6% female staff and 45.4% male staff.


Sexual Orientation

In 2023/24, 5.3% of staff were LGBTQUIA+ by sexual orientation.

  • Bisexual - 2.3%.
  • Gay or lesbian - 2.1%.
  • Other - 0.8%.

Declarations: 72.4% (27.6% of staff said 'Prefer not to say'/didn't answer the question).

In 2021/22, the sector average was 4.3% staff who are LGBTQUIA+ by sexual orientation (1.6% Bisexual, 2.2% Gay or lesbian, and 0.5% other).

Students

Disability

In 2023/24, 11.3% of students were disabled (13.5% of undergraduate students, and 7.2% of postgraduate students).

Declarations: 100%.

In 2021/22, the sector average was 15.9% disabled students.


Gender

In 2022/23, 49.1% of students were men, 50.3% women, 0% non-binary, and 0.1% 'other'.

  • Men - 50.4% undergraduate, 45.6% postgraduate.
  • Women - 49% undergraduate, 53.9% postgraduate.
  • Non-binary - 0% undergraduate, 0% postgraduate.
  • Other - 0.1% undergraduate, 0.1% postgraduate.

Race and Ethnicity

In 2023/24, 56% of Warwick students were Black, Asian, or minority ethnic.

  • Asian - 23% undergraduate, 22.7% postgraduate.
  • Black - 8.3% undergraduate, 5.1% postgraduate.
  • Chinese - 12.1% undergraduate, 33.4% postgraduate.
  • Mixed - 5.9% undergraduate, 2.9% postgraduate.
  • Other - 2.2% undergraduate, 3.1% postgraduate.

Declarations: 97.8% (2.2% of students said 'Prefer not to say'/didn't answer the question).

In 2021/22, the sector average was 27% Black, Asian, and minority ethnic students (11.6% Asian, 8% Black, 0.8% Chinese, 4.5% Mixed, and 2.1% Other).


Religion and Belief

In 2023/24, 44.9% of students declared a religion or belief:

  • Buddhist - 1.6% undergraduate, 2.5% postgraduate.
  • Christian - 23.5% undergraduate, 16.3% postgraduate.
  • Hindu - 8.9% undergraduate, 9.9% postgraduate.
  • Jewish - 0.8% undergraduate, 0.3% postgraduate.
  • Muslim - 8.4% undergraduate, 8.3% postgraduate.
  • Sikh - 1.9% undergraduate, 0.6% postgraduate.
  • Spiritual - 1% undergraduate, 1% undergraduate.
  • Any other religion or belief - 1.2% undergraduate, 1.5% postgraduate.

46.7% of students declared no religion - 44.8% undergraduate, 50.1% postgraduate.

Declarations: 92.5% (7.5% of students said 'Prefer not to say'/didn't answer the question).

In 2021/22, the sector average was 49.2% students declaring a religion (1% Buddhist, 28.7% Christian, 4.2% Hindu, 0.4% Jewish, 10.6% Muslim, 1% Sikh, 1.5% Spiritual, and 1.6% any other religion) and 43.8% declaring no religion.


Sexual Orientation

In 2023/24, 9.4% of Warwick students were LGBTQUIA+ by sexual orientation (10.6% undergraduate, 7.8% postgraduate).

Declarations: 88% (12% of students said 'Prefer not to say'/didn't answer the question).

In 2021/22, the sector average was 10% staff who are LGBTQUIA+ by sexual orientation.
