Inaugural Pre-university Summer School is a huge success
This inaugural and pilot programme proved to be a great success and the 2019 version will launch shortly in order to recruit a larger cohort for next year. This year’s students hailed from 18 different countries including India, China, Hong Kong, Russia, Norway, Spain, Turkey, France and the UK. The programme is an addition to our current offer of short “taster sessions” for Pre-University students and is designed to enable us to engage with students from across the world who are interested in studying at Warwick and who also want to sample University life.
Professor Abhinay Muthoo said “This is a huge, worldwide market and there is real potential for Warwick to be frontrunners in the field of Pre-University education. In turn, this enhances our international reputation and provides an opportunity for Warwick to target and work with some of the brightest young minds from across the world”.
Developed as a result of market demand identified through our Warwick Summer School marketing activity, the Pre-University Summer School included academic teaching in the areas of economics and business, skills and personal development, sessions on applying to study in the UK and at Warwick and a great number of social and cultural activities.
The programme included a seven night stay on the lovely Warwick campus and three nights in London. Students enjoyed a trip to Stratford, a visit to the Turing Institute and some of the key tourist attractions in London including the London Eye and River Cruise and a trip to the West End.
Students were also able to experience living in University Halls and sharing experiences with their wonderful Warwick student ambassadors who looked after them for the 10 night programme.
The feedback was outstanding with 100% of the students saying they would recommend the programme to others.
