Warwick Policy Lab Lecture Series

The series provides an excellent opportunity for academics, professionals, students and alumni to engage with high profile policy makers, practitioners and influential decision-makers; people who, in their day to day positions, are applying the knowledge and insights generated in academic departments to some of the world’s most interesting developments and challenging problems.

The lectures are open to the public and all staff, students and Warwick Alumni. After each lecture there is a Q&A session giving the audience the opportunity to discuss topics of interest to them.

We have welcomed high profile speakers several times a year including Sir Vince Cable, Deputy Governor of the Bank of England, Minouche Shafik, former Treasurer at HMT, Sir Nicholas Macpherson, GCHQ’s Director General of Cyber Security, Ciaran Martin, President of UN Agency, IFAD, Dr Kanayo F. Nwanze and Permanent Secretary for DCLG, Melanie Dawes.

Question Time

The Warwick Policy Lab initiated and established the University’s flagship Question Time event. A lively and engaging event held during induction week at the beginning of each new academic year. Run in a style similar to the popular BBC show, students have the chance to watch and partake in a live debate between leading politicians and economists.

Previous panel members include Lord Gus O'Donnell (former Cabinet Secretary), Jacqui Smith (former Home Secretary), Hazel Blears (former MP and Health Minister), Lord Norman Lamont (former Chancellor of the Exchequer) and Professor Abhinay Muthoo (Dean of Warwick in London). Events were chaired by Warwick in London’s Siobhan Benita.
