Nikki is responsible for leading Warwick’s European strategy, working closely with senior management to develop and maintain strategic links with external policy makers and to develop partnerships with universities, industry and other key stakeholders in Brussels and more widely in Europe. She also supports University partnerships across national, European and international networks to develop durable collaborations that support future plans for research, teaching, impact and other engagement, including working on the development and implementation of the research strategy for Warwick in California.
Nikki has previously worked in research management and administration in the HEI sector for 17 years following a short period as an academic researcher. She was formerly the Head of Research Strategy at Warwick, responsible for embedding Warwick’s Research Strategy within both academic and administrative departments and working on strategic links with external policy makers, funding bodies and potential research partners across international, European and national networks. She also led on the development of support for inter-disciplinary and programmatic research groupings, and managed Warwick’s Global Research Priorities - a programme of eleven research-led multidisciplinary themes addressing global issues such as food security and energy. Nikki also had a particular focus on support for EU funding applications, helping to lead multiple successful research funding bids to the European Framework Programmes and, more recently, Horizon 2020. Nikki is an active member of the Association of Research Managers and Administrators (ARMA), and was their Director for International Engagement for four year until 2016.
