School events registration

Schools are invited to bring small groups of up to 15 Year 6 pupils to join us for SolarFest

Arriving on campus at 10am students will be greeted with a short talk all about the sun and how it gives us energy. We will then break the pupils into four groups to attend a either a workshop sessions or spend the time exploring our Discovery Zone. After having time to eat a packed lunch pupils will swap over and those who experienced the workshop in the morning will be able to explore our Discovery Zone and vice versa. Sessions will finish at 2:20pm to allow you plenty of time to get pupils back to school.

Workshop sessions will either involve using solar telescopes and seeing how the UV rays in sunlight change the colours of UV beads, or will give children the opportunity to explore some of our real life solar research equipment through guided activities in a research lab. We will allocate which workshop children from your school take part in based on numbers attending.

The discovery zone will contain a series of hands on activities and demonstrations to let the children enjoy engaging with science. This will include giant board games, a 3D printed solar tree, examples of different types of solar panels, a solar powered pizza oven, and hopefully much more! We're hoping to have around 10 different activities to allow children to see lots of different things and choose what they want to spend time looking at.

Please complete the following form to register your school group. We will send you an email to confirm your place.

Unfortunately due to high demand we are only able to take 15 pupils per school at this point.

This form is closed and is no longer accepting any submissions.

Thank you for your time.
