Volunteering in Term 2
It is not too late to start volunteering! The list below is a selection of projects managed by Warwick Volunteers with which you can start volunteering in Term 2. You can check the project pages for more details about how to get involved.
You can browse through ongoing external opportunities by visiting our Project Search Tool, selecting "Availability" then choose "Open now". If you're not receiving our weekly newsletter email us volunteers at warwick dot ac dot uk to be put on the mailing list as many external opportunities are advertised there.
Give it a Go!
Our One-Off programme allows you to take part in volunteering activities with no regular commitment such as canal clean ups, dog walking and painting projects. Help your local community, meet new friends and have fun.
Chess in Schools
Enthusiastic volunteers are required to run a lunchtime Chess Club at a local school.
Sessions take place one lunchtime per week (Usually Wednesday after school or Friday Lunchtime). Volunteers don't need to attend every session but would need to complete a DBS check.
Buddy Club
Buddy Club makes weekly visits to Willowbrook; a residential home for older people. The main role of the volunteers is to socialise with the residents by providing friendly conversation and companionship. Volunteers can also help to deliver activities such as quizzes, games, cake decorating and arts and crafts.
Cheylesmore Good Neighbours
Cheylesmore Good Neighbours support older people in the area who are lonely and provide an environment where they can chat with others in addition to enjoying talks and other activities. Volunteers provide one to one IT support for members.
Crafting Happiness
Help patients experiencing long term hospital stay to create personalised greeting cards. Volunteers also create craft packs that can be distributed to patients for them to make in their own time and help alleviate boredom.
Star Conversation Club
Volunteers teach refugees and asylum seekers English in a fun and informal way. The project aims to improve their fluency, teach them life skills and help integrate them into the community.
Kenilworth Phab
Kenilworth Phab is a weekly opportunity for disabled and non-disabled adults to meet socially to enjoy a variety of activities in an environment of equality and integration
Tocil Wood
Tocil Wood, the bluebell wood on campus, enjoys a protected status as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and offers useful experience for anybody aiming to enter the environmental sector following graduation.
Lunchtime Games Club
A local school in Kenilworth is looking for for students who want to play board games with friends and volunteers like you! This is a chance to have fun and improve the lunchtimes of pupils who prefer a quieter environment to the playground
