When were you at Warwick?
Arrived in October 2000 after a gap year. Graduated in June 2003 with a 2:1 in Economics and Politics. Was elected as the Finance and Internal Affairs Sabbatical Officer for the Students Union, and worked there from June 2003 to July 2004.

Do you have any fond memories?
Plenty! I had a wonderful time at Warwick, and am very grateful for the opportunity. Some of my closest friends were made while I was at Warwick – a bunch of very funny, interesting people. The academic education and extra-curricular activities were very helpful in starting my career.

Where did you live while you were at Warwick?
My first year was in Rootes O Block. I lived in Leamington Spa for two years, and then returned to campus while I was working as a Sabbatical Officer.

Were you a member of any societies?
I was President of the Economics Society; amongst other things I founded and ran the first three Warwick Economics Summits, which I believe are now in their 12th year. I am very proud that something we built has lasted well after we graduated.

I was Treasurer of the Rugby Club at one point, doing lots of work on sponsorships, tours and general administration. I played poorly for the 3rd team for 4 years. Also, I did ballroom dancing for a while, and was terrible.

What are you doing now?
I work as a natural gas trader for BP Energy in Houston, Texas. I joined the BP Graduate programme in London after I left Warwick. I moved to Texas in 2007, intending to spend a year or two learning the business. Things have gone very well here, and I now have a family, a house and a green card.

Why did you decide to become an alumni ambassador?
My (adopted) daughter recently started high school at the Awty International School in Houston. Awty has a pro-active careers department, and several students have recently gone to Warwick. I realized that there was no Warwick representative in Houston, and so decided to volunteer.

Have you been back to Warwick recently?
Not for a few years, since I have been out the country. I intend to show my daughters around this summer.
