Dr Shaheen Sardar Ali, Professor of Law at Warwick and Vice-Chair, United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention delivered a talk on ‘Performance, Performativity and the Politics of Women’s Rights’ on Friday, 12th April 2013 in Islamabad at Kuch Khaas.
The talk, focusing on an investigation of Muslim state practices with regard to international human rights law in general and women's human rights, was attended by students and law and gender studies experts from various institutions including Quaid-e-Azam University, International Islamic University, ILO and CARE International.
Warwick Pakistan Representatives, Zeeshan Riaz and Saima Asghar Riaz were also present at the event along with Warwick alumni and prospective students. The members appreciated the workshop and the efforts of the University's International Office team in Pakistan to provide updated information and guidance in Pakistan.
