LLM alumni networking event

You may have heard that we recently revamped the Law School by building a brand new all singing, all dancing extension and we would love for you to come and see it in all its glory. We are also delighted that the Law School performed really well in the latest research rankings making us one of the top 10 Law Schools in the UK.

We thought therefore that it would be a good time to see whether you would like to come along to what we are calling an ‘Alumni Networking Event’. This would not only be an opportunity for us to show off our new facilities but also give our current students the chance to meet with up with previous LLM survivors.

The event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 29th April from 6 – 8pm in the new Law School Student Hub. There will drinks and light refreshments served. We may even be blessed with a little bit of sunshine meaning we can swing the doors open and break out onto the quad outside - fingers crossed. We thought this would be a great opportunity for you to meet our current LLM cohort and share your experiences of the working world, as well as possibly catching up with some of your old classmates/teachers.

If you would like to come along please let me know via email on S.E.Prestleton@warwick.ac.uk by Friday 3rd April as I will need numbers to organise catering.

Please make sure to send me the following information so I can arrange name badges for those attending:

  • Name
  • LLM studied

In addition to the socialising, we are hoping to offer current students the opportunity to spend a little more time with some Alumni hearing what they have been doing since they left Warwick. We are thinking of short 10-15 minute sessions in our break out rooms close to the Student Hub. You can give a quick seminar and then take questions or just hold an informal chat. It is completely up to you how you deliver your experiences. If you would be willing to offer one of these breakout sessions please let me know in your email confirming attendance and provide the following information for the schedule:

  • Name
  • LLM studied
  • Years you studied your LLM (e.g. 2008-2009)
  • Job title
  • Brief description of role.

I want to make it clear that you are not obliged to offer a session. You are very welcome to come along to just the social event and have an informal chat with our students and see some old faces. You are more than welcome either way.

If you are not able to make the event but would like to offer advice to our current students, I am putting together a pack of contact details of Alumni so that they are able to contact them with any questions they may have. If you would like to be included, please send me the following via email:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • LLM studied
  • Years of study
  • Job title
  • Brief description of role

Again this is completely voluntary. You may also be interested in joining 600 other Warwick alumni mentor who have signed up to help current Warwick students with their career questions. If you are then go to warwickgrad.net and set up a mentor profile.

I look forward to hearing from you by the 3rd April and hope you can make it.
All the best,
Sara
