My name is Shaheen Sardar Ali and I am a Professor of Law here at the University of Warwick.
I am really excited to be writing to you as a graduate from Warwick living in Pakistan and it is with great pleasure that I invite you to join me in Islamabad for a special event on 3rd April.
This event is the launch of ‘The Women of Pakistan Scholarship Fund’, a brand new fund which I have just created to empower marginalised women in our country.
Like many of you, my time at Warwick changed my life. I was born in the Swat Valley of north-western Pakistan and am now humbled to be listed as one of the top 100 influential Pakistani women in the world. You can read more about my story in the attached flyer – but the important thing is that my time in the UK was so important to me that I decided that I had to do something as a modest token of thanksgiving for all the privileges I have received.
I invite you to help me support more Pakistani women to be exposed to higher education in a UK university.
Together, we can help enable more women of Pakistan to find their voice and contribute to dialogues that will advance the field of Law and the position of women in society.
The event takes place at 3pm on 3rd April 2014, and you need to RSVP by 1st April please. The location will be:
Higher Education Commission, Pakistan
Head Office, Islamabad
Sector H-9, East Service Road
You can book your place here. I really look forward to meeting you in April and to learning more about your story as we celebrate this new opportunity together.
