2012 Taiwanese alumni party

The 2012 Warwick alumni reunion party in Taiwan took place on Saturday November 10th. Organised by the alumni association there, this is the biggest annual alumni gathering event in Taiwan. This year nearly 60 alumni and their families attended the party, their graduation years ranging from 1990 to 2012.

Sam Lee (MSc Engineering Business Management 1998-99 ), the Chairman of alumni association in Taiwan, opened the event and announced that a Facebook page for Taiwanese alumni had been established earlier in 2012 and that nearly 500 alumni had already joined.

It was also a great pleasure to welcome special guests Jeremy Burgess, Assistant Director of the Warwick International office and Andy Young, Senior Teaching Fellow from WMG. Jerry gave a short talk about recent developments at the University which drew a lot of attention from alumni as the University has changed a lot since they graduated. Andy shared the exciting news that WMG has been awarded £92 million by the UK government, Jaguar Land Rover and Tata to develop the National Automotive Innovation Centre.

Following this, Shawn Hsu (MSc Engineering Business Management 2003-04) delivered a speech about cloud technology and wine expert James Lu from D’Vine Wine (Asia) talked about how to taste good red, white and sweet wines. Alumni greatly enjoyed the opportunity to taste different kind of wines that James has brought in. The final part of the event was a lucky draw. There were 13 winners who won special University souvenirs which were very kindly contributed by Jeremy.

This annual event is always a great success that brings together alumni of different years of graduation. We would like to thank all the alumni and their families who participated and particularly appreciate the who organised this event. We are looking forward to seeing you all next year!
