Warwick Conferences is thrilled after its latest marketing campaign has been acknowledged for its originality and creativity by industry experts at the annual Conference Centres of Excellence (CCE) awards.
Held on Wednesday 18 July and attended by over 100 venue representatives and members of the industry , the awards exist to recognise excellence from within the CCE membership as well as non-members in categories including ‘best supplier’, ‘best booking agency’, and ‘non-CCE venue most admired by members’.
Warwick Conferences beat off tough competition on the night to take home the coveted award for ‘Best Innovation’ for its quirky and innovative ‘Compare the Conference’ campaign.
The campaign, which comprises a spoof price comparison website called comparetheconference.com and a conference pear named Compear D’conference, is designed to show event bookers how a complete package at Warwick Conferences stacks up against the costs of other conference venues.
Tony Rogers, who was on the judging panel, commented: “Warwick Conferences’ entry was original and distinctive and provided a fun and humorous element to what can be a rather tedious task.
“The campaign’s approach has also paid dividends in terms of meeting the business targets set for it.
“We had some excellent entries in this category so Warwick Conferences should be delighted to have been named the winner.”
Rachael Bartlett, head of sales and marketing at Warwick Conferences added: “We’re really pleased with our comparetheconference.com campaign and believe it is a fun way of highlighting the serious issue of hidden costs within the meetings and conference industry.
“It’s great that people understand the message behind the campaign and we hope that it makes event bookers stop and think when comparing venue prices.”
CCE, a marketing consortium for top quality dedicated conference and training centres, has 36 venue members who have to meet stringent criteria in terms of facilities, accommodation and customer care before joining.
