Bridge View Light Railway
I have been working from home where I can, to’d and fro’d to Campus to facilitate pieces of work to keep our bit ticking over where needed in two science departments, and tried to keep myself active outside of campus with my own interests where I could. One thing which had to close down completely was our embryonic Miniature Railway, Bridge View Light Railway, which myself and my club-mates are building within the confines of Russells Garden Centre on the outskirts of Baginton – just down the road from Campus. Quoting from our own web pages:- “The Bridge View Light Railway is a new, volunteer run, community project opening a miniature railway along the beautiful riverbank of the Sowe in Baginton”. As the lockdown situation began to ease slightly, and with a keen eye on the Government advice (and a load of common sense!) we devised a way to re-start the construction works in a strictly ‘Socially Distanced’ fashion last weekend, all outside in the open air. This felt really brilliant for the group of us that attended, and we have been on a massive high ever since! Things felt a bit more like ‘normal’ at last! I attach a couple of pictures, hope you like them! Do come and find us or drop me a line when things have eased enough for us to entertain you with a ride, and when the track is finally in the ground of course!
