American Studies

The School of Comparative American Studies (CAS) at Warwick University teaches a small and friendly four-year undergraduate degree course, History, Literature and Cultures of the Americas, with an intake of up to 25 students each year.

Students of the History, Literature and Culture of the Americas degree may spend their third year on a Year Abroad at a partner institution, providing students with first-hand experience of living and studying in a part of the Americas. There is also a three-year version of the course without a Year Abroad.

The Degree

CAS is consistently ranked as one of the best American Studies department in the UK by the Complete University Guide and the Times University Guide.

Most American Studies degrees focus on the USA, or the USA and Canada. However, the History, Literature and Culture of the Americas degree at Warwick looks at the Americas as a whole - the USA and Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean - offering multi-disciplinary study of this important region of the world.

The CAS academic staff have a wealth of experience in American Studies, spanning modern and early modern history, and a wide variety of themes and topics.

CAS is part of the Department of History. Please see the Department of History website for details of all news and events, including those of the School of Comparative American Studies
