Please select the required modules for your course as follows:

VV16 Ancient History and Classical Archaeology

120 CATS in total

Must take Introduction to Greek and Roman History (CX102-30) and Encounters with Material Culture (CX111-15). These will be automatically assigned to you.

Please select a further 45 CATS from Term 1:

  • Greek Culture and Society (CX109-15) AND/OR Roman Culture and Society (CX110-15), Ancient Thought (CX112-15), Greek Literary Texts (Advanced) (CX106-30)/Greek Language 1 (Beginners) (CX120-15) OR Latin Literary Texts (Advanced) (CX136-30)/Latin Language 1 (Beginners) (CX115-15)

and a further 60 CATS in Term 2:

  • Encounters with Greek Texts (CX113-15), Encounters with Latin texts (CX114-15), Greek Literary Texts (Advanced) (CX106-30)/Greek Language 2 (Intermediate) (CX126-15) OR Latin Literary Texts (Advanced) (CX136-30)/Latin Language 2 (Intermediate) (CX101-15)

You may substitute up to 30 CATS from Classics with up to 30 CATS from an external departmentsubject to approval

 

VV18 Ancient History and Classical Archaeology with Study in Europe

120 CATS in total

Must take Introduction to Greek and Roman History (CX102-30), Encounters with Material Culture (CX111-15) (these will be automatically assigned to you) and a modern European language (Italian/German).

Please then select a further 30 CATS from Term 1:

  • Greek Culture and Society (CX109-15) AND/OR Roman Culture and Society (CX110-15), Ancient Thought (CX112-15), Greek Literary Texts (Advanced) (CX106-30)/Greek Language 1 (Beginners) (CX120-15) OR Latin Literary Texts (Advanced) (CX136-30)/Latin Language 1 (Beginners) (CX115-15)

and a further 45 CATS in Term 2:

  • Encounters with Greek Texts (CX113-15), Encounters with Latin texts (CX114-15), Greek Literary Texts (Advanced) (CX106-30)/Greek Language 2 (Intermediate) (CX126-15) OR Latin Literary Texts (Advanced) (CX136-30)/Latin Language 2 (Intermediate) (CX101-15)

VV19 Ancient History and Classical Archaeology with Study Abroad

EXTERNAL MODULES:

Students on certain degree programmes can select up to 30 CATS from an external department. Please see the course regulations for your degree programme to see whether you are eligible. Please note:

  • You will need to follow the external department's module selection process to gain a place on this module.
  • It is strongly advised that you discuss with your Personal Tutor if you are thinking about taking an external module in another department.
  • External module selections are subject to the approval of the Head of the Classics Department.
  • You will not necessarily gain a place on an external module.
  • The Classics Department cannot allocate places on modules from other departments, or complete an external module selection process on your behalf.
