Assessment

Assessment of the module will consist of two essays plus a two-hour examination in the summer term.

In addition, and in order to assist students develop their ability to deal critically with the plays and the secondary literature on them, there will be a practice exercise in discussing individual passages of text.

Gobbett exercise (Non-assessed)

Essay 2 (Assessed: 25%)

Essay 3 (Assessed: 25%)

Examination (50%)

The examination will require comment on the context and dramatic significance of two passages chosen from those set, together with two essays on the plays or dramatic developments within Roman Comedy. The examination essays will not involve a close overlap with those titles already assessed.
