1) Fraser states that “we lack the conceptions of capitalism and capitalist crisis that are adequate to our time”.
Can traditional Marxist theory by applied to contemporary society? Has capitalism itself evolved, or have theorists’ priorities changed, e.g. a focus on post-colonialism, environmental issues and patriarchy?

2) Fraser disagrees that ‘capitalism propels the ever-increasing commodification of life.’ How does her view of the commodity differ from Marx’s?

3) ‘Historically, the split between “productive” wage work and unwaged “reproductive” labour has underpinned modern capitalist forms of women’s subordination’.
How do women in paid labour (‘productive wage work’) factor into this system? Are female workers liberating themselves from unpaid domestic labour, or being exploited?

4) ‘Social practices orientated to reproduction...tend to engender ideals of care, mutual responsibility and solidarity’.
Is this an accurate description of the domestic sphere under capitalism? Is the reproductive/domestic space one of solidarity or hierarchy?
Furthermore, Fraser describes ‘social reproduction’ as a different ‘zone’ than the economic; but can the social be fully separated from the economic under capitalism?
