Since January 2014, I have been a teaching fellow in the department of Theatre, Film and Television at the University of York. I have taught Non-Fiction Forms of Film and Television and am leading a module entitled Political Cinema and Television. In Autumn 2015, I will lead an MA module in the English department entitled From Crash to Crisis: American Cinema and Society 1930-2015.

I have published research articles on the influence of images of JFK on Barack Obama (Comparative American Studies) and authenticity in American election campaigns and its construction in film and television (Journal of American Studies). I have work forthcoming on representations of John F. Kennedy in film and television (Film & History) and American propaganda during World War II (in The Routledge Companion to Cinema and Politics).

I have presented my research at numerous conferences, including British Association of American Studies annual conference (Manchester, 2012; Birmingham, 2014; Northumbria, 2015) and Film & History annual conference (Milwaukee, 2012 and Madison, 2013).

I completed an early career fellowship in the Institute of Advanced Study, University of Warwick in July 2013. While an ECF, I convened a highly successful symposium, Watching Politics, that included contributions from scholars in Film and Television, American Studies, Media and Communications, Politics and History.
