I hold an undergraduate honours degree in Film and Literature, an MA by Research and a PhD in Film and Television Studies from the University of Warwick. The majority of my research is concerned with meaning construction and narrative through space, paying particular attention to digital cinema. I am also an editor for the film criticism website Alternate Takes.
I am particularly interested in the ways in which digital spaces construct meaning, with my recent research focusing on contemporary digital 3D cinema. My research interests also include film, television and video game criticism, Hollywood cinema, genre studies and narratology. Following the recent completion of Expressive Spaces in Digital 3D Cinema (Basingstoke: Palgrave Macmillan 2016), which will be released in October, I am now investgiating spatial expressivity and the role of critical aesthetics in video games.
