Hotspot-secure Windows 8 Setup
1. From the Windows 8 Home screen, drag up from the bottom (touch screen) or right-click (mouse) to show the toolbar. Click "All Apps".
2. Press the Desktop icon to show the Windows 8 Desktop.
3. Right click the network icon, and then select "Open Network and Sharing Center".
4. In the Network and Sharing Center window, click "Set up a new network connection or network".
5. In the Set up a Connection or Network window, click Manually connect to a wireless network.
6. In the Manually connect to a wireless network window, enter the following details.
- Network name: hotspot-secure
- Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
- Encryption type: AES
- Security Key: <leave this blank>
Click Next
7. Click "Change connection settings"
8. In the Properties window, click the Security tab.
Choose a network authentication method: Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP)
Click the Settings button and complete details as below:
- Tick the "Verfiy the server's identity by validating the certificate" box
- Tick "Connect to these servers" and enter:
"warwick-wireless1.warwick.ac.uk;warwick-wireless2.warwick.ac.uk"
- Tick "AddTrust External CA Root".
- Under "Select Authentication Method", ensure "Secured password (EAP-MSCHAPv2)" is selected then click "Configure"
- Untick the “Automatically use my Windows log-on” radio button
Click "OK" three times to close all windows
9. Click “Connect” as indicated below
10. Enter your IT Services Username and Password
Once complete you will be able to access the Internet.
