About

I teach on first year language modules: Grammar and translation and Essay. I have taken part in the implementation of a couple of Diagnostic Tests on French Grammar, which help the team to assess the level of the students when they arrive in the department.

I have also created several grammar exercises which are part of the programme Perception, used by the students to consolidate their knowledge and their grammar skills.

I am now creating some pedagogical material for our partner university in Australia : Monash; producing various exercises and working on contemporary writers such as Anna Gavalda, and musicians such as Stromae.

I am the module co-ordinator of FR 117 : final year translation for Erasmus students coming from our partner universities in France: Paris-Sorbonne /Paris-Nanterre / Grenoble Stendhal / Bordeaux Montaigne /Caen / Dijon-Universite de Bourgogne ...

Outside of language, my teaching interests are largely centred upon Contemporary France and Contemporary French Civilisation. I am module co-ordinator of FR 119 : Society and Business in Modern France. The module focuses on the links between French society, politics and business in France, starting with General de Gaulle's arrival to power up to Francois Hollande's presidency. It enables students to understand the evolution of French society and the French business environment through various topics (the 35 hour law/ France and globalization/the French social model/France and competitiveness/ the place of France in Europe/the images of French business...).The module also gives the students the opportunity to learn and to use an extensive range of business vocabulary, and to undertake a wide variety of business tasks. It also helps them to develop some valuable intercultural awareness.

I also work in a supervisory capacity with PhD students who are training as language teachers.

I organized a Book-Club in the French Department for a few years, giving our students the chance to discover some French contemporary writers and to talk about the books in a relaxed atmosphere .

I have organised a couple of Tables Rondes about the French Presidential elections, giving the students the opportunity to know more about the current political situation in France, and I'll continue to do so in the future.
