Students can expect by the end of the year to have acquired some detailed knowledge of the history of French cinema based on the works studied and good familiarity with the methods of film analysis. Students intending to take other film-based modules taught in the Department are strongly encouraged to take this module in their second year.
Teaching will take place on Fridays between 11.00 and 1.00 in H0.60. Students are expected to have watched the relevant film for each week before coming to class. Films can be viewed on the Languages@Warwick Moodle page, or DVDs may be borrowed from the Transnational Resources Centre.
There is an extensive collection of videotapes and DVDs available both in the Library and in the Transnational Resources Centre in the Humanities Building to assist students in carrying out close analysis and in the preparation of essays.
