Gomorra, directed by Matteo Garrone (2008)
Based on Roberto Saviano's best-selling expose of the Naples mafia, this film has won awards at five international film festivals, including the grand prix at the 2008 Cannes Film festival, triggering claims of a rebirth in Italian realist cinema.
It is a brutally honest depiction of the underworld of the Neapolitan mafia, Camorra, showing five stories of individuals whose lives become intwined within organized crime.

We have also just received Antonello Grimaldi's 2008 success Caos Calmo (Quiet Chaos), starring Nanni Moretti as a bereaved husband who abandons his job to wait outside his daughter's school, in a 'dryly humorous and affecting' film which was recently premiered at the London Film Festival.
