ambience

The TRC actively encourages group work in the form of discussion, problem solving, brainstorming and presentation activities. Talking is permitted. We do not have a silent study area or a silent study policy.

The consumption of cold drinks and cold food is permitted. Hot food items such as pizzas, burgers, indeed any hot take away food are not permitted. Hot food packaging in form of boxes or containers should not be taken into the TRC regardless of whether the contents are cold. Cafe Humanities is located across the main Humanities corridor from the TRC, and provides seating for TRC users to eat hot food.

We urge all our users to respect the area and others around them and dispose of food waste in a responsible manner.

The TRC aims to be an environmentally sustainable area. We ask all our users to dispose of paper waste in the recyling bins provided, and to switch off equipment where appropriate after use.

Users are not permitted to sleep in the TRC at any point.

Users who leave their work and or belongings in group areas or on computers unattended will be allowed 30 minutes maximum to return. Failure to do so will see their belongings removed, computers reset and TRC books returned to the shelving trolleys.

reference books and other print materials

All the TRC's book and newspaper or magazine stock is for reference only. Books may not be removed from the TRC. Please help us keep the stock easily available to all users by returning books and newspapers to the shelves or racks.

technologies

All the equipment featured in the TRC is accessed by simply dropping in and using it. Help and advice using the equipment can be sought at any time from the TRC staff. Individuals and groups wishing to watch DVDs and videos, or to work on image and video capture, have priority over users using computers for word processing or general internet access.
