Italian with Spanish

This course (25% Hispanic Studies) has a strong focus on Italian components covering language, culture, and literature but it is also intended for those who wish to study Spanish language and culture as a portion of their degree.

The below course structure is indicative. Modules on offer change year on year, dependent on staff research interests and availablility.

Year One

Core Modules
  Modern Italian Language I (at Beginners', Intermediate or Advanced level) (30 Credits)
  Modern Spanish Language I (30 Credits)
  The History of Modern Italy (30 Credits) 
Optional Modules
  Translation: Methods and Practice (30 Credits)
  Or an approved outside option.

Year Two/Three - Spent abroad

Year Two/Three

  You are required to take 120 credits, 90 in Italian Studies and 30 in Spanish
Core Modules
  Modern Italian Language ll or Modern Italian Language IIl (30 Credits)
  Modern Spanish Language II (30 Credits)
Optional Modules
 

Intermediate year options in Italian Studies (30-60 credits)

Intermediate year SMLC options (0-30 credits)

Year Four

  You are required to take 120 credits, 90 in Italian Studies and 30 in Spanish
Core Modules
  Modern Italian Language IV (30 credits)
  Either Modern Spanish Language III or one or more Hispanic Studies modules (30 credits)
Optional Modules
