Welcome to The School of Modern Languages and Cultures
Congratulations on your results; we look forward to welcoming you soon to Warwick!
This webpage will give you some information about preparing for your arrival at Warwick, some experiences and tips from our current students and suggestions for reading and preparatory activities during the summer. There is no need to do extensive reading and preparation before you start your course, but some of our students like to get a head start and read around their subject before starting their studies in the autumn. We encourage you to sample some of the set texts and take the opportunity to read in both your chosen language(s) and English. If you can do a little reading around your modules before you arrive, so much the better! Please click the appropriate link further below to view suggested materials and activities, as well as links to the relevant pages in other departments with which we run joint programmes. You may also want to refer back to the resources for Offer Holders here which supplement this information.

ITALIAN | TRANSLATION | JOINT DEGREES |
Reference books (such as dictionaries) are things that you can buy before coming to Warwick or acquire once you get here.
Students whose degree combination includes Arabic/Chinese/Russian/Japanese/Portuguese will be requested to complete an online pre-sessional course and we will send further information about how to access this in September.
You can keep up to date with School news at the Warwick Modern Languages blog.
We're looking forward to meeting you all in welcome week but in the mean time have a great summer!
Best wishes,
Professor Kate Astbury
