Warwick Taught Masters Scholarships – deadline Friday 31^st May

The University of Warwick will be offering the Warwick Taught Masters Scholarship Scheme to support eligible postgraduate students in 2024/2025. The Scheme has £500,000 to allocate and we expect to make a minimum of 50 awards. Awards are set up to £10,000 per student and available to eligible Home fee status students from under-represented groups who wish to start a postgraduate taught masters course in 2024/2025.

UG Sanctuary Scholarships – deadline Tuesday 30^th April

Warwick’s UG Sanctuary Scholarship applications for 2024 entry are now open. Please note that these scholarships are open to eligible Warwick offer holders/applicants who are seeking asylum, have humanitarian protection or discretionary/limited leave to remain due to an asylum claim and cover a full tuition fee waiver and the equivalent of the full maintenance grant and Warwick Bursary. FABFestLink opens in a new window took place on Wednesday 28^th June, welcoming over sixty pupils from five Coventry and Warwickshire secondary schools to the Faculty of Arts Building. The day was targeted at Year 8 students (aged 12 to 13 years old), with the aim of allowing students to experience and explore a range of subjects and to inspire students to think about future subject choices in the Arts and Humanities.

Congratulations to Damien Homer (Faculty of Arts Widening Participation Coordinator) and Claire Eddon (Faculty of Social Sciences Widening Participation Coordinator) for their work to create the Easter residential school.

The Faculty of Arts welcomed over seventy school students from across Coventry and Warwickshire to its new facilities last week. Over two days the Year 12 students from Caludon Castle, Cardinal Newman and Solihull Sixth Form spent time in the new FAB building. They had taster sessions ran by academic staff, tours of the Arts Centre, Q & A ambassador session as well as time to hear from alumni. The local students also entered a creative competition where they took pictures of the new building.

Coventry's year as 'UK City of Culture 2021' draws to a close in April 2022. The University of Warwick will celebrate Coventry's magnificent tenure with a campus finale of the Resonate Festival, taking place from the 19^th - 21^st April 2022.

But what does it mean to be a 'City of Culture', and from where did this scheme originate? Who chooses the 'winning' city, what sorts of criteria are used to select the winner, and what is expected of a city once they have been awarded the title?

Students from Film and TV, History, and the School of Modern Languages have started to support a new and exciting programme to help Widening Participation students in our local area. From late February to mid-May student’s from the Faculty of Arts will be providing weekly academic support mentoring in schools across Coventry and Warwickshire. Over a 100 school children will be supported with their GCSE and A Levels, alongside their homework and information about university. The small group mentoring will then culminate in a celebratory visit to campus for all the mentees.

A new creative venture from the Faculty of Arts will help develop the University as a powerhouse for the artistic, cultural, creative and media industries in the region and beyond. The new School of Creative Arts, Performance and Visual Cultures will redefine Warwick’s teaching and research in the arts, cultural and creative industries – offering great opportunities for students, graduates, external partners, academics and for public engagement.
