Study Abroad

Please use this form to register your intent to pursue an intercalated year abroad (including both study abroad and work placements). Prior to filling out this form, you should speak with the Director of Student Experience about your initial plans for your year abroad; additionally, you are strongly urged to attend the briefings and information sessions managed by the International Office (information available here).

Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct information for study abroad, and that you have met all deadlines.

The deadline for completing this form is noon, December 8, 2017. This allows us to check your eligibility for study/work abroad and communicate your details to the International Office. Applications received after this date will not be eligible for consideration.

The department's role:

In the planning stages, our role is to approve you as a study abroad candidate (virtually all placements require at least a 60 average or better). We also provide academic advice; we can advise you about the ways in which your planned activities can fit into your degree. Once you're abroad, the department will remain your first point of contact within Warwick. We will help provide pastoral care, advise you about training needs, and identify further help that you might require. You will keep your personal tutor, Warwick email address, and online resources available through the University.

Once you have decided where you want to go, we will receive applications for, and allocate, our dedicated places. Where there are more applicants than places available, we will do our best to allocate your highest-preference choice to you.

The University's role:

The University manages the study abroad process. That means that all financial, logistical, and administrative queries should be directed to the International Office. The International Office will also manage all pre- and post-study training (beyond one-to-one or program-specific training that may be offered by the department).

Directions:

  • Please ensure your personal details are correct.
  • Use the free-text box to provide the names of your top five destination choices, in order of preference.
  • Indicate where appropriate if these are study or work placements.
  • Please bear in mind that you are required to take a full academic year abroad; while you may be able to take two part-year placements, you cannot apply for a period abroad of less than one year. If you are planning to request more than one destination, please note that where appropriate.
