Vishalakshi Roy

Vishalakshi is a Teaching Fellow in the Centre and has been working in the cultural sector for the last 13 years in the UK, India and in Europe. She founded the consultancy Earthen Lamp in 2011 specialising in research and strategy development for creative and cultural organisations. Since 2010, Vishalakshi has been using her industry expertise to teach audience development and strategic management at the centre. Vishalakshi has a background in accounting, advertising and market research, holds a Master’s degree in Creative and Media Enterprises, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Advertising and PR. Vish has a PhD which she attained from the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Group at Warwick Business School. She is a Certified Member of the Market Research Society and a Trustee of Birmingham Opera Company.

Dr Jane Woddis
Jane Woddis is an independent cultural researcher based in Birmingham. She has worked professionally for many years in community-based and educational arts organisations, including senior management responsibilities for fundraising, planning and policy, as well as with the community and workplace action and research organisation Coventry Workshop. She has been associated with the Centre since beginning the MA in European Culture and Administration in 1994, and subsequently undertook a PhD in the Centre. As an Associate Fellow, she has continued to combine work in the arts world with academic teaching and research, including as Project Manager of Warwick Creative Exchange (a network of University of Warwick academics and cultural practitioners and producers, which aims to encourage knowledge exchange and research collaborations between the academic and cultural community) from 2013 to 2015. Jane sees her dual work base as both a reflection and a reinforcement of the Centre’s consistent and close collaboration with the cultural sector.

Sara Lattey

Sara Lattey has been a fundamental part of the development of the MA Global Media and Communication. As a freelance marketing and communications consultant, Sara is an experience developer of deliverer of communication campaigns for leading brands as well as small to medium enterprises and charities. Sara delivers the Applied Communication Project module and co-delivers Creativity, Communication and Technology module for the MA Global Media and Communication. She has expeirence supervising dissertations that cover the topics of marketing, branding and public relations.

Philippa Cross

Philippa Cross has worked in the creative sector for over 20 years, in visual arts, funding, and theatre. Her career has included working for the Tate Gallery in corporate development; West Midlands Arts, where she was Lottery Officer and then Director of Policy & Resources; Arts Council England, supporting local authorities and arts & regeneration; and the Coventry branch of national creative learning initiative Creative Partnerships, where she led on evaluation and programme management before becoming a ‘Creative Agent’ (best title ever!), working to broker relationships between schools and artists.

With significant experience of strategic planning: from devising regional policy and supporting development of local authority arts strategies, to business planning for her own company – Philippa has also - as a freelance consultant - supported various organisations in visioning, organisational/ team development and evaluation: clients have included Welsh National Opera, Warwick Arts Centre, Arts Council England, Sandwell MBC, Warwickshire County Council, and smaller companies such as Ludic Rooms, Big Brum and Mercurial Arts. Her other expertise lies in fundraising, project management, and coaching. Philippa is currently part time General Manager for Talking Birds Theatre Company – a company that is proud to be embedded in its home city of Coventry.



Dr Egil Bjornsen

Egil Bjornsen is a former colleague and cultural policy researcher at Agderforskning, Kristiansand, Norway. He also teaches on the MA Cultural Studies at Telemark University, Norway.

Nic Garnett

Nic Garnett is an international music lawyer and digital rights consultant who regularly advises WIPO, the Technology Strategy Board and other governmental and industry organisations on intellectual property issues. He teaches on the Managing Intellectual Property module for the MA in Creative and Media Enterprises.

Hope London

Hope London is an arts consultant, practicing artist and IP lawyer with a special interest in visual and public art. She is currently managing a heritage project in Scotland and has taught on the MA in Creative and Media Enterprises since its launch in 1999.

Professor David Looseley

David Looseley is Emeritus Professor of French Culture at the University of Leeds. His areas of special interest include the contemporary history of cultural policies, institutions and practices, with a particular emphasis on popular culture. He has been a long term contributor to the intellectual aims of the Centre and our teaching.

Heather Maitland

Heather Maitland is the author of numerous books on arts marketing, including A Guide to Audience Development (Arts Council, 1997), and currently works as an independent arts consultant. She lectured part-time in the then Centre for Cultural Policy Studies from 1992 to 2002. Other previous posts have included those of General Manager of Midlands Arts Marketing and Marketing Manager (London) for the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Nick North, Director, BBC Audiences

Formerly MD of Gfk NOP Media Nick North is a specialist in audience research and strategy development within the global media industry. He is a regular guest speaker on the MA in Creative and Media Enterprises.

Craig Spivey, Creative Director, formerly at Vital Communications, Leamington Spa

Craig played a major role in the development phases of the MA Global Media and Communications, and many students have done placements at Vital's studios in Leamington Spa. For five years Craig delivered lectures and workshops in creative communication on a regular basis, and has since provided clients for the Centre's summer management practice modules.

Tim Walker

Tim has been a regular contributor to the Cultural Entrepreneurship and Marketing and Markets option modules since 2000. After gaining his MBA at Warwick Business School he worked in retail for Burtons and HMV where he was responsible for setting up HMV’s internet operation. He left HMV to work for Sargasso Partners, providing venture capital and business advice for internet start-up companies, before setting up his own business consultancy and training organisation, The Strategy Room, and a specialist music industry consultancy, Leading Question. Currently he is pursuing a new career in psychology but retains close links with the Centre.

Alison Wenham, CEO, World Independent Music Network

Alison Wenham is the CEO of WIN. She is a regular guest speaker on the MA in Creative and Media Enterprises and has hosted student teams who have also conducted work for the Association of Independent Music (AIM) and the Association of Independent Music Festivals as part of the Creative Business Project module.

Tim Wright

Tim Wright is a cross-platform producer, writer and consultant who regularly conducts projects for the BBC as well as producing independent projects such as Kidmapped. He is interested in narrative and storytelling and how the digital and physical realms intersect. He is a regular guest speaker on the MA in Creative and Media Enterprises and was also a contributor to The Mediasmith Project.

Dr Natalia Helen Yannopoulou

Natalia is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing at Newcastle University Business School. She has a background in bank management and business consultancy, and now researches in marketing, particularly advertising, branding and consumer behaviour. She has published in a number of journals in the field of marketing. Natalia taught on and contributed significantly to the development of the business and communication dimension of the MA International Design and Communication Management (the predecessor course to the MA in Global Media and Communication), particularly looking at creative advertising communications, brand strategy and consumer experience and interpretation.
