3rd Year Form ENGLISH & THEATRE

Please note this form is for 3rd Year English and Theatre Studies Students.
There are separate forms(link in right-hand menu) for
3rd Year Single Honours students
3rd Year English and Theatre joint honours students
3rd Year joint honours students (other than English)
External students (one form for 2nd and 3rd year students)

Compulsory: Shakespeare and Selected Dramatists of his Time (EN301)
AND
Option 1: 30 CATS free choice from Theatre Studies or English
AND
Option 2: 30 CATS free choice from Theatre Studies or English OR an approved outside option
AND
Option 3: Dissertation, either in Theatre Studies or English OR 30 CATS free choice from Theatre Studies or English

In brief you can take from 0 to 90 CATS in Theatre. You can only do a dissertation in English OR Theatre

IRO SECTION

 
GROUP SUBMISSION
If you are submitting a group practical IRO then only one of you needs to provide the rationale, context and research methods BUT all group members should include the names of all other group members in the names section as this will signify assent to the submitted proposal
 
Ethical Approval
Is your research project likely to involve ‘live participants’ (ie. members of the public) in such a way that their permission would have to be sought regarding the processing and use of material in performance?
Context of Research: How has this area of research emerged for you as a preoccupation? What are its defining characteristics? Specify any significant influencing factors such as artists, performers/ companies, theorists, artistic movements etc.
 
Research Methods (practical and theoretical): What is the form of the project? How do you intend to work on this project? What approaches will you use? If you are not taking a Theatre Studies Single/Joint degree you can still apply for a selection of our modules. All students, including those from Film wishing to take Wired should use the form below to see the modules we offer as External options (please note that places are limited and first choice is assigned to Theatre Single/Joint Honours Theatre students.

External Modules

If you wish to take modules in another department (single honours students can take up to 30 CATS per year externally) you should make contact with the department concerned and determine whether this is possible, whether the module clashes with others you have chosen in Theatre and also discuss suitability with your Personal Tutor.
