Supervisor: Nicolas Whybrow
Research Summary:
Nic Fryer is researching theories of creativity and ethics alongside educational theory and the practices of recognised performance artists to propose a pedagogic approach for teaching students to create new performance. He will consider how educational institutions can learn from artists as well as considering what understanding contemporary theory can bring to bear on an understanding of what “matters” in performance.

He is Artistic Director of Small Change Theatre whose productions Long Wave, Red Velvet, Making the Difference and Quicksleeve’s Pledge have toured nationally to a range of venues including BAC, Birmingham Rep, Latitude Festival and Trafalgar Studios.
