Computer-Based Submission and Assessment in BOSS

Mike Joy and Mike Luck, Department of Computer Science

Editors Note
The rise in student numbers and increased popularity of computer science courses combined with the essential practical programming requirement had led to an overload when it comes to marking programming assignments.

The BOSS system, developed in the Computer Science department, and still used today, automates the submission and testing of programming assignments while leaving the marking still in the hands of lecturers.
