Developing research-based learning in the undergraduate curriculum

This article focuses on a project which implements research-based learning strategies at an early stage of the undergraduate curriculum. It makes a group project on modern British history the core learning activity on an optional module for First and Second year History undergraduates. Use of Warwick’s Learning Grid is central to the module. The project aims to provide greater academic progression through the undergraduate curriculum; to embed research skills within the early stages of the undergraduate curriculum; to develop students’ research and transferable skills, through the use of independent study and groupwork; and to create an inclusive research culture.
