Standing Conference on Academic Practice (SCAP)

The 22nd Annual SCAP Conference will be on the 4 & 5 July 2019
at the Radcliffe Conference Centre, University of Warwick

Academic Practice and the Stewardship of Academic Values

The University of Warwick is pleased to host the 22nd Standing Conference on Academic Practice, where participants will consider values in academic practice from a range of perspectives. The theme for this year took its inspiration from a hugely well received speech by Professor Shan Wareing who stated that at a time of major policy change academic values are under threat and require active stewardship. And so, this year the Conference will reflect on academic values, university sector values and aspects of academic practice where values are sometimes challenged.

A specific highlight of SCAP conferences are the after-dinner speeches given by a well informed and critical member of the HE sector. We are pleased to have found Diana Beech, Policy Adviser to the Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation (Department for Education) willing to enlighten us with her insights on the theme.
