Doctoral Research Topic:

My doctoral research is concerned with knowledge construction at the intersection of AI and the social. More specifically, my work will combine qualitative (e.g. expert interviews), computational, and scientometric methods to understand which types of experts make what kind of knowledge claims about the social and how epistemic relevance and authority are established. My doctoral project aims to contribute to the sociology of knowledge and science and technology studies by providing an account of how scientific epistemic relevance and authority are established across disciplines on social aspects of AI.

Working Title: Enacting the social in AI research

Supervisors: Prof Noortje Marres and Dr Michael Castelle

Background:

I hold a BA in Sociology (Distinction), an MSc in Big Data and Digital Futures (Distinction), and an MA in Social Science Research (Distinction), all from the University of Warwick. Before returning to CIM, I spent a year at the University of Leeds working on two data science projects for public good. Since then I also had an opportunity to work as a research assistant on the ShapingAI project and support the development of the SDG-related research visualisation prototype.
