Enterprise at Warwick: 2015-16 Highlights

Wow! What an enterprising year 2015-16 has been on Warwick campus and beyond! With summer well and truly behind us, it's time to look back at some free activities and resources past and present students engaged with last academic year. What will you do this year?

Meeting in person


Current Warwick students and recent Graduate Entrepreneurs on Tier 1 visas met over 200 times with the now expanded team at Enterprise at Warwick! Step onto the Warwick Enterprise Pathway or get in touch enterprise at warwick dot ac dot uk to chat in person about driving your enterprising ideas forward!

geoff.jpgIndividual students and society members of Enactus Warwick, Warwick Entrepreneurs, WarwickTECH and the new Warwick Incubator leapt at the chance to workshop creativity and exchange experiences with professor of entrepreneurship, Geoff Malleck (University of Waterloo, Canada) during his 3 weeks at Warwick.

Competing for funding

output_1jh2y0.gifThe 2016 Student Enterprise Fund and the 2016 Social Enterprise Challenge attracted 43 applications and funded 18 enterprising initiatives. Look out for Imogen Staveley's PregnaPouch for expectant mothers and Ben Hayward's below the knee prosthetic legs for people in developing countries. Training for skills

The 3-day 2015 Student Enterprise Bootcamp provided 16 undergrad and postgrad students with insights into finding markets and funding, managing money and intellectual property, strategising business models and marketing and pitching to investors, customers and partners.

Stan Jallot and Gal Israeli - Outstanding Student Contribution Awarded by Tidjane Thiam

To develop skills essential for working in business or in self-employment, 20 new students participated in the 2016 Warwick Skills Enterprise Scheme - a series of evening workshops with guest speakers like student-entreprenuer Stan Jallot of UniCycles at Warwick. Which enterprise skills would you like to develop? Register your interest today in the next Warwick Skills Enterprise Scheme!

Undergraduate Enterprise Support SchemeOver summer, 10 undergraduates are attending the 2016 Undergraduate Enterprise Support Scheme - 8 weeks of support and enterprise skills training while working on a real business opportunity or a spin-out idea by a Warwick researcher. How will you spend next summer? If you'd like to know more closer to the time, then register your interest for the 2017 UESS so Enterprise at Warwick can get in touch!

Enterprise at Warwick Conference interviewsOver 100 Warwick students and staff signed up for the 2015 Enterprise at Warwick Conference during Global Entrepreneurship Week 2015. Attendees learnt about the work of the Warwick Enterprise Partnership and explored what enterprise means to them. Over a dozen student entrepreneurs like Selina Welter of The Yummy Movement and Rodrigo Bautista of Ticketpass showcased their new start-ups during the enterprise exhibition. The 2016 Enterprise at Warwick Conference will be held on Wednesday 16 November 2016 - so save the date and let us know you're interested in attending.

Anthony KnightPostgraduate students who attended the 2016 Café Enterprise learnt how others are doing innovative things with their research beyond academia - all in a supportive space with a buffet! If you’re a research or taught postgraduate and would like to present at or chair a future Café Enterprise, email: pgresearchskills at warwick dot ac dot uk. Otherwise, be inspired by speakers and express your wish for a seat in the audience!

Enterprise Question Time Debate audience memberIn their bid to boost university enterprise education, a diverse audience of entrepreneurs, students and staff fired questions at an esteemed panel of local and international entrepreneurs during the 2016 Enterprise Question Time Debate at Warwick Arts Centre. Engaging beyond Warwick's campus

Finally, to recognise just some of the University of Warwick teams who have taken their enterprising pursuits off-campus into the local community and to national competitions, a round of applause is made to the Coventry Chess Academy, Enactus Warwick and Warwick's National Apprentice Challengers. They respectively made remarkable achievements at the 2016 UK Schools Chess Challenge, Enactus UK 2016 National Competition and the 2016 National Apprentice Challenge.
