Entrepreneurship: A Critical Perspective
The learning module Entrepreneurship: A Critical Perspective by IATL aims to inspire entrepreneurialism in undergraduate students by providing an interdisciplinary overview of the entrepreneurial process and the main steps for starting and running a venture.
The Entrepreneurship module explores who you are, your connection with others and takes a practical approach to entrepreneurship.
This interactive and practical module was developed from ideas in a recent article on enterprise education by Jones, Matlay and Maritz (2012). The authors identify four modes of enterprise education:
- at a business school
- as a "skill"
- through business start-ups
- as a transformative pedagogy
While activities across campus progress for the first three modes, the fourth requires attention – especially at undergraduate level. Therefore this module highlights the interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary nature of entrepreneurship as a field of study.
Each session addresses theoretical aspects of the topic and their practical implications. In the second hour of each session students typically engage with exercises and group work.
Students have the opportunity to take part in Capp’s “Strength Selector”.
