The first ever Coventry & Warwickshire Business Festival is set to ignite the local business scene.

From 20th November to 1st December 2017 the region will come alive with a fortnight of exciting business events put on by local organisations from right across the region.

Enactus Warwick make final 3!

This is a fantastic achievement reflecting the hard work the team have put in this summer under the new president. They will find out on September 23 whether they have won the category. £3m fund for product-based start-ups launches


A £3m fund for product-based start-ups seeking to scale has been launched by successful entrepreneur Damon Bonser, who made his name selling impulse consumer products.

Bonser, who co-founded product-based business Spinning Hat in 2005 which was sold to last year, has set up the British Design Fund to plug a funding gap he spotted while mentoring start-ups.

The fund, which has a close relationship with the Design Council, expects to make a first close at £3m and will start making investments in late September, Bonser said.

Chemistry and Warwick Ventures pilot way to develop Early Career Researchers and win £500k to achieve impact


Researchers in the Department of Chemistry have achieved the holy grail of making commodity plastics that can be more easily mixed, painted and joined. Professor Peter Scott, working with doctoral student Chris Kay, has developed a commercially-viable range of customisable additives, named PolarfinsTM that change the surface properties of plastics to make them more attractive to other materials.

Enterprising students compete in National Apprentice Challenge


A team of students supported by the Warwick Enterprise Partnership represented Warwick at the 2016 National Apprentice Challenge. It is one of the largest UK inter-university enterprise competitions and is run by the Centre for Applied Learning. Each year, up to 100 of the nation's brightest and most ambitious students tackle practical business tasks. This year the prize was £1,000 cash, business mentorship and a fast-track to paid internships.

Warwickshire micro, small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) having difficulty accessing loans to fund their growth, are being given the chance to get loans from a new package of funding worth £800,000 from Warwickshire County Council and Coventry and Warwickshire Reinvestment Trust (CWRT).

The small business loans programme is designed to help businesses access investment that will help them diversify or modernise their operations, leading to economic growth and job creation.

FabLab Coventry has landed


FabLab Coventry has arrived, thanks to a not-for-profit partnership between Coventry University, Coventry City Council, the University of Warwick and numerous other partners from both the private and charity sectors. FabLab Coventry is small-scale fabrication laboratory with 3D printing, laser cutting and more! It uses a "sweat equity" policy that means that volunteering counts towards the use of machines and membership fees.


Enactus Warwick success at Regional Competition

Enactus Warwick was one of 53 teams which competed in the Enactus Regional Competitions.
