    "Shakespeare as Global Cultural Heritage"- David's remarks at NYU Abu Dhabi

    David and Katherine have just returned from a workshop in Abu Dhabi organised by NYU Abu Dhabi, which brought together Shakespeare scholars and theatre practitioners from the UK, the USA, India, Chile, Egypt, Abu Dhabi and China to discuss "Shakespeare as Global Cultural Heritage". Particularly exciting about this workshop was the way in which it brought academics and practitioners together, and its performance of a "deconstructed" Hamlet (Hamlet/Ur-Hamlet) by Ruben Polendo with Theater Mitu.     Sheila T Cavanagh announced as Fulbright Distinguished Chair 15/16

    Global Shakespeare are very pleased to announce Sheila T Cavanagh will be serving as the Fulbright Distinguished Chair at Queen Mary University of London and Warwick University for the academic year 2015-2016.

    Professor of English at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, Sheila is Founding Director of the World Shakespeare Project , Director of the Emory Women Writer’s Resource Project and Director of Emory’s Year of Shakespeare, working in conjunction with The Folger Shakespeare Library and American Library Association traveling exhibit “The First Folio: The Book that Gave Us Shakespeare.”
